As both an artist and musician, Jela’s work explores the connections between the visual and sonic world and the inclusivity of all artistic mediums.

She received her MFA degree from California Institute of the Arts in 2015 and her Bachelor's of Music degree from Pacific Lutheran University in 2012.

Jela has developed an interdisciplinary creative practice through performance, composition, and visual art. Jela's inspiration for her artistic practice is rooted in observing the nature of our human reality through philosophy, psychology, meditation and spiritual practice. When she is away from the studio, she carries her practice with her while meditating on mountain tops, reading, running, swinging at the playground, scavenging for vintage toys, vegan cooking and living each day as if the world is brand new!
